A visit to Largs...
..and a brisk walk, leisurely stroll or cycle, along the banks of the River Clyde, on our beautiful seaside promenade with lovely unspoiled views towards the islands. There are plenty of colourful benches to rest on and take in the wonderful scenery.
The prom runs the full length of Largs ~ giving access to:- two play parks, two putting greens, a boating pond, the Vikingar! (swimming pool, soft play, gym, theater & Viking Exhibition), several ice cream kiosks, skateboard park, Pencil monument (commemorating the Battle of Largs in 1263) and finally Largs Yacht Haven (cafe, restaurant & shops)
For the sports enthusiast ~ two golf courses, 3 bowling greens, tenpin bowling alley, hill walking, cycling, skateboarding, swimming, gym, sailing, windsurfing, diving, fresh water & sea angling, horse riding. Inverclyde International Sports Centre for indoor activities.
Kelburn Country Centre, just outside Largs is a great day out for the whole family. Fabulous walks, breathtaking views, adventure playground and the famous Secret Forest. Kelburn Castle is the current home of Lord Glasgow and with its beautifully maintained gardens and some of the oldest trees in Britain is worth a visit.
The islands - Cumbrae is a 10 min ferry trip and offers safe cycling for the whole family and boasts a Country & Western Festival. Wee Cumbrae is reached by a power boat ride, taking in the amazing wildlife in and around the River Clyde.
Places to visit: Arran, Isle of Bute, Dunoon, Glasgow, Ayr and Robert Burns country, Loch Lomond, Edinburgh & Stirling - all no more than 11/2 hours drive away.
Largs is a great base to tour Scotland many more places can be visited within a days trip.
Don’t forget to experience a scenic sail on the historic paddle steamer the PS Waverley, the worlds only ocean going paddle steamer.
There is so much to see and do, locally & further afield.... you just have to... VISIT LARGS.
